These are introductory notes on the anti-de Sitter-conformal field theory (AdS-CFT) correspondence. We discuss the basic properties of the duality known as AdS-CFT. We mainly focus on the most famous example, AdS5×S5. We also discuss the case of nonconformal theories (finite-temperature theories). Finally, we briefly discuss examples of CFT-AdS correspondence with less supersymmetry and the holographic renormalization group. This is the write-up of a series of lectures and is not aimed to be an exhaustive review of the argument.
