Using general scaling laws for interaction cross sections, we derive limits on the mass of stable particles produced both in and out of thermal equilibrium. The bounds stem from requiring that the energy density in the particles not overclose the Universe. Our results apply equally well to new elementary particles, like stable technibaryons, or to extended objects like monopoles, or stable textures.
