Two of the most satisfactory descriptions of mass-energy and its localization in general relativity are given in terms of the Tolman and Møller formulae. The form of these two equations, as well as their derivation, are so utterly different that for thirty-five years, there was never even the slightest suspicion that there was any relationship between them. Yet, as it will be shown in this talk, for time-independent fields the two formulae are in fact identical.
