The paper compares simultaneous measurements of density on IMP-8 and
ISEE-3 as a function of velocity and ion temperature. Systematic
differences of a magnitude sufficiently large to be important in studies
of the solar wind interaction of the magnetosphere are found. A basis
for calculating an improved solar wind data set is provided.
