The current state of progress in modeling the elastic inhomogeneity distribution in the lunar crust based on seismic coda data generated by impacts near the Apollo Passive Seismic Experiment sites is outlined. The relations used to calculate inhomogeneity scattering cross sections from nearby impact codas, which apply to a coda consisting dominantly of fundamental mode Rayleigh waves, are presented, and preliminary results from the analysis of 20 codas associated with 13 impacts are indicated. It is noted that the values of the parameter representing the product of scatterer density with total scatterer cross section obtained are similar for the various events considered, and are at all times less than the wave number under consideration. Work remaining on the the calculation of the separate contributions of scattering and attenuation to the vertical coda displacement is noted.
