In December 2009 a coordinated campaign was performed in order to study the global dynamics and morphology of polar cap patches during solar minimum conditions. Five high latitude incoherent scatter radars, covering great parts of the polar cap and auroral zone, were used. In order to cover as large parts of the high latitude ionospheric convection pattern as possible, radars in both the american and european sectors were operated simultaneously. The campaign was also supported by several all-sky imagers and other auxiliary instruments, covering the same area. The geomagnetic conditions were silent to moderate during the campaign, solar wind conditions were typical for solar minimum and the auroral oval was observed to be relatively small most of the time. Polar cap patches were observed inside the polar cap on a routine basis. Here we present and discuss results and observations from the campaign.
