We have re-evaluated the total background flux detected by the WFC3-IR detector on the basis of the most recent estimates of cold enclosure temperatures and of the detector quantum efficiency of the flight parts. In the F160W filter, which is the most prone to high background emission, we calculate a background value . Combined with the low mean dark current (~0.04 e/s/pix) measured on WFC3-IR flight detectors, we obtain a total dark signal of ~0.14 e/s/pix, well below the original CEI specifications of 0.4 e/s/pix. This low dark signal should provide improved sensitivity on long exposures, with significant benefits on a large variety of scientific programs.
