The authors report on a search of the FOCAS (Faint Object Classification and Analysis System) catalog of stars and galaxies to 24th J photographic magnitude and a preliminary search of CCD data to 26th magnitude for extreme M dwarfs. This program extends earlier searches to 100 pc (photographic) and 400 pc (CCD) at high latitude for Mv = 19 mag, thus sampling whatever halo or fat disk population of extreme M dwarfs and brown dwarfs may be there.
