The basic design and the scientific aims of the EUDOSSO project are described. EUDOSSO is a space instrument conceived for achieving very high accuracy and long term stability in measuring solar diameter time variations. Therefore it is suitable for measuring long period g-modes, oblateness and long-term diameter variations possibly relevant to climatic changes.
