An ionosphere-protonosphere model is used to investigate the filling of plasma tubes with allowance for plasma exchange between the hemispheres in the case of seasonal asymmetry between them. A three-step filling process is postulated for H(+) ions. It is found that the filling of plasma tubes by O(+) ions occurs symmetrically in both hemispheres without noticeable spatial inhomogeneities characteristic for H(+) ions.
