The prolonged diffusion into the F2 region of small quantities of water vapor from the dense mesosphere caused by the launch of Saturn 5 rockets is considered. Owing to atmospheric circulation and turbulence, the water vapor is diffused at a considerable distance from the point where it is injected. Average values of f0F2 during the 10 days preceding each launch and the 10 days after each launch are determined. The values of f0 and f are then used in calculating the concentrations of H2O and H2O+ on the basis of relations derived by Krasovskii (1957).
