In this talk we present the results from the long-term study of composition in the lower thermosphere. To probe this relatively inaccessible region, we use far ultraviolet remote sensing to deduce the ratio of the O column density to that of N2. This O/N2 ratio provides an important means for probing change in the thermosphere. We discuss long term trends as well as the differences between the measurements and the predictions of empirical models and first principles models.
