In the preceding paper (Part I) a qualitative theoretical explanation is presented for the red 6300 Å and green 5577 Å atmospheric emissions from atomic oxygen which were produced in the southern conjugate area by the 9 July 1962 nuclear burst. This explanation is based on the principal assumption of a time-independent temperature of the emitting air. Because of this, only a qualitative order of magnitude comparison between theory and data of intensity and emission time was presented. In the following paragraphs cooling by radiation and thermal conduction is incorporated into the calculations described in Part I. As a result a more detailed quantitative theoretical description of the emission time history is made. The results compare closely with available photometer data during the times when the majority of the energy has been emitted, if the radiation is assumed to originate from the upper F-layer.
