An investigation has been made of the possible contribution to the low energy electron content of the magnetosphere by photoelectric processes in the upper atmosphere. Results have indicated both the energy spectra of the emergent electrons and also their pitch angle distributions. The latter are of importance in determining the subsequent motion, especially with regard to the net flux and precipitation between conjugate points.
