We analyze the magnetic field data recorded by ELF antennas operated by ISUAL project of NCKU at Lulin Observatory in Taiwan at low-latitudinal region (120°52' 25"E , 23°28' 07" N, 2862m). The data adopted in this analysis is from 2008 to 2009 with wave signals below 200Hz primarily studied. The signals are measured in both H (north-south) and D (east-west) components. Therefore, we focus on developing computing codes to derive parameters associated with their polarizations from these two observed components, based on quasi-monochromatic theory and coherency matrix from physical optics. From the coherency matrix, a partially polarized signal can be separated into its polarized and unpolarized parts. The ellipticity, orientation, and sense of polarization for the polarized portion can then be calculated in terms of the matrix elements using power and cross-power spectral analysis techniques. The degree of polarization can finally be obtained. The variations of polarizations will be used to find where the emissions originate. Their correlations with both the geomagnetic activities and seismic activities will also be extensively investigated. This will be beneficial to our understanding on whether the detected ELF-emissions are from geomagnetic or seismic activities.
