Rocket and satellite data covering the complete, six-decade irregularity distribution are analyzed in order to obtain a full-spectrum classification of equatorial spread F irregularities, from the approximately 100-km large scale behavior to the meter-domain. A composite perspective is developed for the hierarchy of processes which contribute to the total equatorial spread F phenomenon, providing in situ meter-scale irregularity measurements that illuminate the relationship of spectral power at short wavelengths to that in the transitional and intermediate domain.
