The EUV line intensity ratios R1 and R2 were computed for MgVII and SiIX for both flares and active regions, using the most appropriate atomic data, and were compared with the earlier results of Mason and Bhatia (1978) and Keenan et al. (1986). It is found that the electron density derived from the observed values in case of solar flares is higher than that in case of active regions and that densities derived from SiIX are greater than those from MgVII.
