The continuum emission from the inner regions of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) is discussed. It is emphasized that a thermal UV component is a generic feature of accretion powered sources, and does not necessarily require a 'standard' disc; in particular, a model in which primary nonthermal radiation is reprocessed by small magnetically confined sheets or filaments with a small volume filling factor is discussed. The radio emission from compact sources is discussed. The possibility that stars may be captured in very tight orbits around massive black holes and that such stars could in principle cause periodic variations with periods as short as about 1 hour is discussed. The cosmogonic implications of the z dependence of the AGN populations (and particularly the problems posed by objects with z approximately equal to 5), and the nature and detectability of the AGN remants in the centers of quiescent nearby galaxies are considered.
