The present paper deals with the first detection of IR bursts from an object known as Liller I, which has been identified with the rapid X-ray burster MXB1730-333 - the only one of its kind that has been extensively studied in the X-ray region. Some of the known characteristics of Liller I are outlined, and observed IR bursts from this object are tabulated. A remarkably close similarity of the rise time, duration, and gradual decay of intensity of the IR bursts with the corresponding characteristics of Type-I X-ray bursts strongly indicate an association between the two.
