A series of high-velocity resolution spectra of the main line OH emission from U Orionis shows that the lines have a complicated circular polarization structure, particularly at 1665 MHz. The spectra show that the main lines of U Ori became predominantly right circularly polarized between 1977 November and 1978 November. The peak fluxes measured in 1977 November and 1978 November are significantly larger than other recently measured peak fluxes for U Ori and suggest that the outbursts in the main line emission may be periodic and correlated with the optical period of the star.
