Radiative Transfer: Numerical Methods
Scientific paper
A new approach based on a new method for the angular approximation of radiation intensity is described. In the proposed method, the radiant equation is satisfied in the mean over each elementary cell of the angular partition of a sphere while the radiant intensity in each cell is given by an expression analogous to the P1 approximation. The main novelty of the approach consists in the method of sphere partition, which permits an essential simplification of the resulting equations and increases the accuracy of the obtained solution by taking into account specific peculiarities of the problems under consideration. The high efficiency of the method is illustrated by example solutions for different one-dimensional test problems.
