We propose the observation with XMM-Newton of a sample of 14 optically selected Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1) discovered in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and never observed in X-rays. The key aim of this project is the detailed characterization of the X-ray spectral properties of optically selected NLS1. Moreover, since most NLS1 known to date are X-ray selected, this study will also assess if their 0.5-10 keV spectral properties change with the selection method.
