Drift Waves, Fokker-Planck And Vlasov Equation

Scientific paper

The theory of drift waves in plasmas containing highly charged impurities (dust) is developed to include the specific features of dust, such as the attraction of dust grains as well as collisions between dust and neutral particles. Nonlinear equations taking into account variations of drift potential together with plasma electron, ion, and neutral densities, as well as dust charges, are obtained. The range of plasma parameters where the effects introduced by interactions of dust and neutrals can trigger a novel drift wave instability is found.
