The structures of driven drift-wave turbulence in a doubly-periodic two-dimensional slab geometry are considered. The appearance and dynamics of such structures in saturated driven/damped systems is connected to the interpretation of the so-called anomalous transport observed in magnetically confined fusion-plasmas. Different techniques are applied to numerical data of drift-wave turbulence in the search for coherent structures. The combination of coherent sampling, tracking of maxima or minima, and usage of the Weiss field leads to a self-consistent picture of their transient appearance and the related particle transport caused by coherent structures.
