The concurrence of the first years of the Two Wide-angle Imaging Neutral Atom Spectrometers (TWINS) mission with an extended solar minimum has provided us with an abundance of energetic neutral atom (ENA) data during quiet magnetospheric conditions. Thus, we have been able to focus on magnetospheric dynamics that occur during quiet conditions; specifically, how the magnetotail responds to varying solar wind conditions. ENA data from the TWINS mission is used to create ion temperature maps of the magnetosphere for different solar wind speeds, densities, and interplanetary magnetic field orientation. Ion temperature maps created from the ENA images enable us to study many processes in the magnetotail. For example, a dusk-dawn ion temperature asymmetry is a signature of the duskward gradient/curvature and earthward E × B drifts of ions. Also, localized ion heating events can be a signature of magnetic reconnection. The viewing geometry of the TWINS ENA instruments provides measurements from the inner magnetosphere to tens of Earth radii downtail. We present raw ion temperature maps of the magnetosphere and analysis of the observations as a function of solar wind speed and solar wind pressure.
