A scheme for analyzing the properties of the geomagnetic field on the basis of perturbation theory is discussed, and the generation of the geomagnetic field relative to constraints on the velocity of the conducting medium. Constraints on this velocity turn out to be weaker in the model with degeneration. Quantitative estimates are made for the amplitudes of the poloidal and toroidal fields and for the inclination of the dipole field to the rotation axis.
