Two approaches to the description of fermion fields in the tetrad theory of gravitation are studied and compared. One approach is covariant with respect to tetrad Lorentz transformations with arbitrary parameter, and the other is covariant with respect to tetrad Lorentz transformations with constant coefficients. It is found that both approaches lead to the same displacement of atomic energy levels in a weak external gravitational field. The possibility of achieving covariance with respect to tetrad Lorentz transformations with arbitrary parameters within the framework of the second approach, with the aid of gauge transformation of the third kind is investigated.
