The theories on momentum diffusion in non-compressional waves (Alfvén waves) in the solar wind are well-developed while momentum diffusion of ions in compressional waves is explored to less extent. We present a model on stochastic acceleration of ions in compressional solar wind turbulence and compare the results to data from the ACE, SOHO, WIND, and Ulysses spacecraft. The experimentally determined acceleration time scales are used to model the evolution of the spectra of suprathermal ions convected through the heliosphere to the solar wind termination shock.
