A brief review is presented on the subjects of recent interest in the area of physics of hot plasma in space environments. Strong and weak double layers are discussed, showing potential profiles for both. Magnetic reconnection is addressed, discussing tearing mode instability and externally driven magnetic reconnection as alternative explanations for substorms in the geomagnetic tail. The Jovian magnetosphere is considered, depicting its plasma pressure and magnetic flux density as observed by Voyager II and discussing reasons for its physical structure and characteristics.
