It is assumed that the polarization of X-ray sources is due to scattering of their radiation by free electrons. For theoretical determination of the degree of polarization, multiple scattering of radiation in a plane layer at a temperature which depends on the optical depth is considered. The linear integral equations which determine the intensity of the radiation emerging from the layer are solved. The theoretical values of the degree of polarization are compared with the observed values for the X-ray sources Cyg X-1 and Sco X-1. Some parameters of the accretion disks are estimated on the basis of this comparison.
