The brightness profiles of 119 compact galaxies in the neighborhood of the cluster Abell 2255 and of 47 compact Zwicky galaxies and 96 galaxies in the cluster Abell 2255 are determined. Among other results it is found that 36% of the compact field galaxies have fairly steep profiles with AC(+) greater than 0.045, while only 6% of the compact Zwicky galaxies have such profiles. The galaxies in A 2255 are found to occupy an intermediate position.
