The Signe II MP program (Solar International Gamma Ray and Neutron Experiments) using the Soviet Prognoz 6 satellite is described. The program deals with studying solar and cosmic X and gamma ray bursts. The Prognoz 6 satellite is described along with the experiment package and its operating modes. Consideration is given to detector calibration and data reduction. The Signe II MP experiment has detected three confirmed gamma ray bursts and four candidate events which cannot be traced to any magnetospheric or detector effects. The present gamma burst detection network using two Soviet Venus probes and a Prognoz 7 is emphasized and future projects are outlined.
