The solved and unsolved mysteries in gamma-ray bursts are reviewed.Although the GRB distance scale has been determined, it only appliesto a particular class of gamma-ray bursts: those with long time historiesand bright X-ray afterglows. The short bursts, which appear to consititutea separate class, still have no known counterparts, and their distancescale could be different. Indeed, their number-intensity relation differssignificantly from that of GRBs as a whole, suggesting that their spatialdistribution in the radial direction is unusual. Another enigma is thepossible GRB - Supernova connection. And finally, lines in GRB spectra havecome back as an issue.
