The anomalies associated with neutrino fields in general relativity also occur with Dirac fields. For spin-1/2 particles with nonzero rest-mass, the sign of the energy density is generally dependent upon the observer. Thus spin-1/2 particles do not satisfy the energy condition that is required for the singularity theorems in general relativity. For weak gravitational fields the anomalies may never occur. However, in a situation of gravitational collapse it is not reasonable to expect Dirac particles to satisfy the usual energy conditions.
