In this paper, we present preliminary results of mid-infrared observations of the ``normal'' edge-on galaxy NGC 891. The whole plane of the galaxy was mapped through the ISO-CAM broad-band filters from 4.5 μm (LW1) to 15 μm (LW9) and the central 8 kpc have been observed with the spectro-imaging mode of the camera. The mapping of the so-called Unidentified Infrared Bands, UIBs (6.2, 7.7, 8.6 and 11.3 μm), is clearly done with a high signal to noise ratio in the whole galactic plane, providing the distribution of PAH-like molecules in the diffuse interstellar medium (ISM) of this galaxy. Correlation is established between the distribution of PAHs in terms of abundance and excitation state, mapped by these aromatic infrared bands ratios, and the galactic structure (distribution of gas and radiation field) showing an obvious weakening of the 11.3 μm band in central regions.
