Scientific paper

The paper examines data on the MHD structure of interplanetary streams arising from the intense solar flares of August 2 and 4, 1972. Characteristics of interplanetary shock waves and flow structure, as measured by Pioneer 9 and 10 and Prognoz 1 and 2, are investigated. Data indicate the existence of magnetic regions in the interplanetary streams characterized by sharp shock fronts, large-scale and quiet magnetic field, and low plasma concentration.
