The data concerning the cosmological abundances of 4He and 2H and the uncertainties of the neutron lifetime seem to be incompatible by a narrow margin with the existence of three neutrino flavors. The possibilities of resolving this apparent contradiction are discussed. A discovery of a fourth light neutrino would indicate the lepton asymmetry of the universe at the time of nucleosynthesis. Even in the case of neutrino degeneracy the number of neutrino species is constrained by the baryon density.
