Analysis of planetary seismic characteristics (annual values of total earthquake energy and annual numbers of strong earthquakes) has revealed a dependence of the earth's seismicity on the 11-year solar cycle, the influence of solar activity on seismic processes occurring via atmospheric processes. In the present paper, a thorough analysis of some of the strongest earthquakes is carried out to gain insight into the physical aspects of the relationship between seismicity, solar activity, and atmospheric processes.
