Two observations of X Per performed on two successive days during the 1976 transatlantic balloon flight show a variation by a factor of 2.6 in the hard X-ray flux of the source. During both observations, corresponding to the transit in the detector field-of-view, the intensity was apparently stable. Comparison with OSO 7 results suggests that the source stays mainly in the state of lower flux.
