The possible emission of right-handed neutrinos nu(R) from SN 1987A by neutrino-magnetic-moment interactions is considered. By imposing a bound on the nu(R) luminosity, a limit on the neutrino magnetic moment, depending on the core temperature, is obtained. It appears that consideration of the number of high-energy (100-200 MeV) neutrino events that should have been observed in the underground detectors, after nu(R) to nu(L) rotation in the Galactic magnetic field, may lead to a stronger bound under specific assumptions.
