Ground-based and spacecraft data, including GOES-2 observations, are used to determine experimental parameters which can be introduced into the Volland (1975) model of the magnetospheric convection electric field. The field-aligned current distributions over the auroral zone have been calculated for two different levels of geomagnetic activity using both the single boundary layer model and the double boundary layer model. With respect to the amplitude and time variation, good agreement is found between calculation results and Triad satellite observations, particularly for region I currents.
