Observations of mesospheric winds have been made with a radiowave partial reflection drift system in South Australia; two three-hour soundings were performed with a sampling interval of one minute. The sampling interval permitted resolution of frequencies as high as the Vaisala-Brunt frequency (about five minutes). Analysis of the time series and spectra of mean layer-winds indicates detection of gravity waves with periods in the range from about five to 60 minutes.
