A theoretical study is presented of the electromagnetic field produced by a magnetic dipole moment, rotating obliquely and surrounded by a corotating plasma sphere; the investigation refers to the problem of a magnetized star surrounded by a corotating plasma. Two differential equations are derived for the scalar functions associated with the electric and magnetic fields. A self-consistent solution of these equations is obtained; and it is shown that this solution has no singularity (despite apparent divergence in the formal solution) on the light cylinder. It is concluded that, even in the extreme case of the largest possible corotation radius, the existence of a corotating plasma does not alter the field structure drastically compared to the vacuum case.
