Integral formulas are used to provide an explicit solution to the gravimetric inverse problem of calculating the depth of the Mohorovicic discontinuity from Bouguer gravity anomalies. The two main mechanisms of isostatic compensation, i.e., the Pratt type and the type of Airy and Vening Meinesz, are examined. It is concluded that the best results are obtained by a combination of gravimetric and seismic data.
