A statistical study of the strongest electron cyclotron harmonic (ECH) waves observed at the geostationary orbit by GEOS 2 was performed. A morphology of these emissions is presented. Results reveal high latitudinal confinement of ECH waves (1 deg) at the magnetic equator. The strongest waves are observed in the dayside magnetosphere. In the nightside, 3/2 Fce waves observed are not intense enough to put plasmasheet electrons in strong pitch-angle diffusion and cause the diffuse aurora.
