Ultralow frequency pulsation even and odd modes, as well as up to the tenth harmonic oscillations were observed during the International Magnetospheric Study. Observations of field variations across field lines support the field line resonance theory. Investigation of ionospheric modification of ULF pulsations reveals a significant ionospheric rotation of the wave's polarization ellipse. Theoretical studies indicate a strong influence of ionospheric conductivity gradients on this rotation.
