Observations of pulsating auroras with all sky TV cameras revealed that the luminosity fluctuation of pulsating auroras is a sequence of individual isolated pulses with almost constant pulse widths of two kinds (0.2 to 0.5 sec and 2 to 6 sec). These characteristics are discussed in relation to VLF/ELF wave particle interactions in the magnetosphere. It is suggested that the propagation effect of VLF-ELF waves in the plasma irregularities near the magnetospheric equatorial plane plays an essential role in provoking the rapid on-off switchings of precipitating electrons. Electromagnetic and electrostatic waves are possibly related to the precipitation pulsations.
