Data on electrons between 0.3 and 22 keV collected by GEOS-1 are presented. The data collecting part of the GEOS 1 orbit covered L-values from 4 to 8 and local times from 04 to 21 hr. The flux was analyzed in terms of 2 temperature Maxwell distributions along pitch angle directions 90 and 15 deg. More than 80% of the data can be fitted to a sum of 2 Maxwell distributions (for each direction). The temperatures group around 0.45 and 6.5 keV, whereas the densities and energy flux vary strongly with activity level and with local time, showing the effects of convection and precipitation. Densities at 90 deg are consistently larger than densities at 15 deg by a factor of 2.5, indicating that anisotropic pitch angle distributions are prevalent in the outer magnetosphere. The low energy and high energy densities follow the same trends with respect to variation with local time and activity level, indicating that the two populations are interdependent.
