Nova Ophiuchi 2008 was discovered independently by several Japanese observers using unfiltered CCDs: K. Nishiyama, Kurume, Fukuoka-ken, and F. Kabashima, Miyaki-cho, Saga-ken; H. Nishimura, Kakegawa, Shizuoka-ken; K. Haseda, Toyohashi, Aichi; via H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University. Discovery date was 2008 May 25 UT, magnitude was approximately 10.2 (visual estimate). Discovery information is from IAU Circular 8947, Daniel W.E. Green, editor. Observations should be submitted to the AAVSO International Database as V2670 Oph.
