The simulation regimes covered by different accelerators and work done to simulate micrometeoroid and dust impact are described. A small electromagnetic dust accelerator was developed, to simulate dust acceleration in the velocity regime between 0 and 1000 m/s. This transfers the energy to the dust. It can therefore operate in all sorts of environments, including ultra-high vacuum. A light gas gun also can accelerate projectiles up to 2 mm in diameter to velocities up to 6 km/s. Two-stage plasma accelerator uses the electromagnetic acceleration as injection and a plasma accelerator as second stage. This device can accelerate projectiles with a diameter between 100 and 250 microns to velocities around 20 km/s. The measurement techniques which were used are described.
